One of the most critical aspects of operational activities at Samar Global High School, Ludhiana, has always been ensuring the safety of students, teachers, staff members, and visitors on our school premises.
As one of the largest fire protection companies located in India, we understand that with the growth and modernization of schools, the need for a dependable fire protection system is evident. The safety and security of hundreds of students in any school is an important responsibility of the school management.
We were asked to help Samar Global High School develop a stronger fire safety system to ensure the safety of everyone within the school premises. For fire protection systems, compliance assistance, and safety planning, we collaborated with the school administration to gather their needs and identify a comprehensive fire safety system.

Understanding the Client’s Requirements
All fire protection projects start with a thorough analysis of the facility’s requirements.
Schools, in particular, pose certain unique challenges since they each have potentially hundreds of students, faculty, administrative, support, and visitors daily.
Getting in touch with the management of Samar Global High School was an attempt to query their fears as well as solutions to plan and work towards their ideas of permanent safety rather than products and aids.

Fire Alarm System

We advised a full fire alarm installation to alarm immediately on detection of smoke, heat or fire.

Smoke Detectors
Since early detection of fire is most important, facilities such as classrooms, offices, corridors, libraries, and other enclosed environments were provided with smoke detection.
Early warning enables much more time for evacuations and helps reduce the risk.
Manual Call Points
Manual call points are designed to be activated by building occupants to raise a fire or emergency alarm when the danger has been spotted.
They enable quick contact throughout the campuses.
Emergency Exit Signage
Precise and obvious identification of emergency exit paths through signs helps students, teachers, administrative personnel and visitors find their way out of a fire in a complete building.
We suggested having lighted exit signs placed at key locations around the campus.
Emergency Lighting Systems
Emergency lighting is used to provide illumination during blackouts or emergency scenarios.
These systems are integral to facilitating safe and smooth evacuations.
Fire Hose Reels
Fire hose reels supply water immediately to assist trained individuals in reacting to a fire.
Hydrant System
In bigger educational institutions, the hydrant system is an integral part of the fire protection system.
Hydrant installations are a useful tool in firefighting and emergency operations.
Public Address System
The school’s emergency cover is a public address system that allows school authorities to manage the emergency procedures by issuing immediate instructions during evacuations.
Fire Safety Signage
Adequate safety signage is essential in establishing awareness among building users and directing them, when needed.
Recommended signage included:

- Emergency Response Instructions
Collaborative Planning and Solution Finalization
- After presenting our recommendations, we collaborated directly with the school management team to develop the implementation plan.
- After the school administration reviewed the suggested systems, there was an ongoing conversation covering operational questions such as:
- During this process, we strongly maintained that we want to deliver the best possible solutions and at the same time it’s very important for us to be pragmatic, scalable, long term value-oriented.
